The Izaak Walton Killam (IWK) Health Centre IWK Foundation is the Maritime’s leading health centre providing highly-specialized and primary health care services for women, children, youth, and families. Supported by the IWK Foundation, the IWK uses up-to-date medical equipment, leading-edge research and the latest technology to provide the absolute, best care possible. It also supports patients across the Maritimes by providing travelling clinics that visit different centres in the Maritimes year round.
In addition, the IWK is a teaching hospital and is affiliated with Dalhousie University. The hospital is renowned as a research hospital in the areas of children’s and women’s health.
The Brian Gerbrandt Memorial Graduate Scholarship
A few years ago, the crane industry lost a great friend and colleague in Brian Gerbrandt. To honor his life, his wife Susan, friends of Brian the University of Alberta created the Brian Gerbrandt Memorial Graduate Scholarship in Crane and Rigging Engineering to fund graduate level education of engineers wishing to pursue advanced education in the field of engineering. Brian was a University of Alberta graduate from the Department of Civil Engineering and worked nearly 30 years in the crane industry. Threads of Life brings hope and healing to Canadian families who have been affected by a workplace fatality, life altering injury or occupational disease.
